Connecting Sides was shot in the Meat Packing District in great New York City in December 2019.
The Meatpacking District in New York City has a rich history that dates back to the late 19th century. During this time, the area was a hub for meatpacking and distribution, with hundreds of slaughterhouses and packing plants operating in the neighborhood. At its peak, the district processed over 250 million pounds of meat per year. In the 1970s and 80s, the area became known for its gritty and seedy character, but it underwent a transformation in the 1990s when it became a center for art galleries, nightclubs, and high-end fashion boutiques. A couple of unique facts about the Meatpacking District include that it was the location of the first National Biscuit Company (Nabisco) factory, and that the area’s cobblestone streets were once used to transport meat from the slaughterhouses to the docks along the Hudson River.
